Want to help take our exciting climate initiative to the next level?
Lawyers for Net Zero is a rapidly growing non-profit working with one of the most powerful sectors in UK society: the in-house legal community, to deliver significant climate action. We have a vibrant group of volunteers supporting us, and are looking to add to the team.
A finalist in The Lawyer Awards 2022 for best ‘Sustainability Initiative’, we already have over 100 in-house Champions, who are active participants in our ‘Impact Programme’, including General Counsels from organisations such as Standard Chartered, E.ON, GSK, Vodafone, NatWest, and Rolls Royce.
The Role - BUSINESS PRIORITISATION ADVOCATE (volunteer)
We are looking for a volunteer to act as a pacesetter for our inspirational founder and CEO Adam Woodhall. He has a lot on his plate, and is always coming up with new ideas, so this role’s sole purpose is to keep him focused on our key priorities
The activity will be short regular meetings with the CEO to:
Consider business needs
Identify and agree realistic priorities
Ensure CEO articulates his commitment to achieve them
Support him to be accountable for his commitment.
The role does not include any delivery of any of the priorities.
This is a highly impactful role which we see as being absolutely crucial to our success going forward.
Key characteristics:
Empathetic and encouraging
Punchy and constructive
Able to stay very focused on the needs of the CEO
Skills/Experience:
Understands pressures of multiple plate-spinning and working in a fast-paced environment, looking to improve efficiency and streamline processes
Motivated by the opportunity to join a leading non-profit working to keep a liveable planet for all
Personality and chemistry with our CEO is more important than specific knowledge and skills
This position would be ideal for someone with some control over their diary and looking for a dynamic volunteering opportunity.
NOTE: No experience of the legal sector or net zero/climate is necessary.
Time Commitment - 1.5hr per week
Two regular meets every week: 1 x 60 min + 1 x 30 min. These would be at a fixed time to be agreed – although there would be some flexibility on both sides.
The successful candidate must:
Commit to undertake the role for a minimum of 3 months (and preferably 6 months)
Be honest with themselves about their ability to commit their skills, time and energy to our initiative because we are going to become heavily reliant on their contribution. To ensure this we’ll encourage you to consider if you are able to fully commit before getting in touch.
90 min a week to help change the world: the climate crisis isn’t going away, and we need you!

Ping an email, telling us why you’d be great at this (aka a cover letter) along with your CV!
